About Last Night.....North Dallas Happy Hour!!

The Babe Magnet that I am.... I had the great pleasure of meeting up with fellow Rainers Lorrie Semlar and Sharon Parisi last night for a little Happy Hour at the new and hip Sting Club in N. Dallas.

The food was simple but good and the beers were cold. I am even starting to see a few more Realtors at these little shindigs which started out as a get-together for Mortgage Professionals.

If your ears were burning last night.... It was for good reason. And the hottest topic of the night was.... Did Donna Harris get that phone call? And what did they say?

While it was fun... It has become clear that we need to start meeting somewhere a little more quiet. It is too hard to do all of that Geek Talk about backlinks and anchor text inside a loud bar. But all-in-all, we had a great time. And I look forward to the next one.

And if you don't recognize Sharon.... she is a little new to ActiveRain. So please stop by and welcome her to th community!!!

Me and The ActiveRain Ladies.

NAHB Green Building Legislation Offers Incentives to Lenders

I know that we have a lot of 'Green' Realtors who post here. I have enjoyed their perspective on the topic.

Here is an article about some proposed legislation to encourage more 'Green' through lender incentives.

--------------------

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) urged Congress this week to move forward on legislation to improve energy efficiency and sustainability in housing without driving costs above manageable levels.

Jerry Howard, NAHB executive vice president and CEO testified before a House Financial Services Committee hearing on H.R. 6078, the Green Resources for Energy Efficient Neighborhood Act (or the GREEN Act) of 2008.

NAHB has been involved in voluntary green building since the early 1990s. Currently, the association is working with the International Code Council to complete a rigorous standards-developing process that will produce the first standard approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for green residential construction and remodeling - the National Green Building Standard.

-------------------

Not much different than a tax rebate for buying an energy efficient heat pump, I guess.

I would really like to hear other thoughts.

Should this happen?
Is it a good thing?

Is there a 'Green' Group here that I should have posted this to?

Baseball Time in Plano, TX - Plano Baseball Association

I am an assistant coach on my son's 7yr old Coach Pitch Baseball team. I have been very pleased with the organization we are playing with this year. The Plano Baseball Association is certainly a community of people who believe in the phrase "It's All About The Kids".
I have been extremely pleased  interacting with the staff at Plano Baseball as well as the opposing team coaches. Everyone seems to subscribe to the "Have Fun First" mentality.

In recent action.... The Sidewinders' Ethan Burris goes for a tag of the opposing team's runner.

 PBA's Mission Statement - Tuesday, January 17, 2006

PBA, a non-profit organization, hosts both recreational and competitive baseball for youth in Plano and the surrounding communities.  Children, ages 3 -18 years play in league and tournament play in the spring and fall seasons. PBA aspires to offer every child wanting to learn baseball the opportunity to develop the mental and physical skills needed to play through baseball camps, clinics and regular team practices. Physical activity, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship are all emphasized for healthy life skills. PBA is not only dedicated to our players, but also to the development of each of the umpires, volunteer coaches and assistants through training classes, coaching clinics and support from our office staff, league commissioners, and the Board of Directors. By utilizing Major League Baseball, USSSA and local PBA rules our coaches teach respect and integrity for the game of baseball.

If you live in Plano, TX and have kids.... This is an organization to check out for your child's development!

Uh oh!! I got MeMe'd again.... This time by Jeff Belonger...

*shaking fist at Jeff*

http://www.fhaloansfhamortgages.com/the-memorial-day-2008-super-meme-by-jeff-belonger

In the above post, Jeff explains how this MeMe was a questions/answer type. Thankfully.

1. Who is your favorite musical artist? (post a youtube video)

Wow, this isn't easy. And I might surprise some folks by my pick. But I would have to say that the one man I always have migrated back to regardless of where my eclectic tastes have taken me is Johnny Cash.

The 'Man in Black' was a great story teller. And though he spent most of his charitable time playing for convicts... see his 'Folsom Prison Blues' stuff.... He has tipped his hat to the American Soldier from time to time and that increases his rankings in my book.

One of his last works was 'Hurt'. A dark song from another Genre that Johnny made better than the original artist.... which is why I chose it for my video....Kind of like his 'Swan Song'.

2. Who is your favorite artist (post a flicker photo)

Jeff stole my old stand by.... Charles Schulz.

But when I close my eyes and think about it.... there is no better canvas than our own surroundings created by the greatest artist of our time.... or any time. Jesus Christ, Our Lord!

3. Who is your favorite blogger?

Ok, bear with me now..... this person didn't lobby or pay for this..... really!!!

Jeff Belonger - The FHA Expert is my favorite.

Why? Well it is pretty simple. Jeff was FHA when FHA wasn't cool .... Like me.  But it is mostly because he reads my blogs and offers me encouragement to keep up with blogging. Kind of like my own personal Mortgage Blog Coach.

Thank You Jeff!!

4. If you could meet anyone (alive or dead), who would it be and what is the most interesting thing about them?

This has always been hard for me. Probably would have to be one of the Founding Fathers. So I can tell them how the constitution is being bastardized and ask their advice as to how they INTENDED for that document to 'live'.

5. What did you want to be when you grew up?

The strongest man in the world.... and smartest.... was/is my Dad. He was an auto mechanic and could 'fix anything'. <= a phrase used to describe me many times since I have always been the guy with the tools and know-how to help a friend who couldn't afford a repairman. I wanted to grow up like Dad. But as I see the wear and tear on his body, I am glad that I went to college and went into sales/marketing and eventually Home Loans.</p> <p><strong>6. What is the most interesting piece of trivia you know?</strong> Indeed: An airplane CAN fly backwards!!! It can fly 60 MPH into a 65 MPH headwind. And I don't know why the heck that popped into my head.... LOL

7. If you could live in any point in history what would it be and why?

Ok.... I had to think this out. I am a technology buff(kind of) and not really into history all that much. So the past is out. The future? Well, I cannot predict what will/may happen so I will just say TOMORROW!! And why not? Because there is ALWAYS a tomorrow!!!

8. What is the most interesting job you have ever held?

Hard to answer because I haven't held any unique or 'cool' jobs. But as far as what is interesting to me.... that would have to be my current job. I have great interest in my First Time Home Buyers and wish them the best in the world.

Now I have to tag someone for a MeMe.....

Ok...

How about my buddy Karen Otto.

And my favorite Addison, TX Realtor... Lorrie Semler

And someone I got to meet recently... that I should know better since she is in my kneck of the woods... Linda Box Taylor
